Oriental rugs have a very long and very interesting history. They have been made for the first time in far east asia region(in Mongolia). It is believed that oriental rugs are the fisrt rugs made by human. On the contrary some people are sure that the first rugs were made in Persia. Either way weaving of oriental rugs is an old tradition in earsten counrties. In almost every region of Asia(such as Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kirgizstan, Mongolia, China, Persia, Afghanistan, India, and many others) oriental rug have been produced for a very long time. Also due to geographical and cultural differences all of these regions have developed their own unique type of oriental rugs. For each of these countries there are a traditional color themes and designs pictured on their oriental rugs. The geographical location led to usage of different materials or even different type of the same material(different kind of wool for example) in oriental rugs. Usually orienrtal rugs are hade-made. That is beacause these Asin countries do not have enought skills for industry production of rugs. But the hand-made oriental rugs are unique and you can not find the similar rug among hand-made oriental rugs. That makes them desireable and very expensive. In western counrties(Europe, Usa and some others) with their well developed industries oriental rugs are made by machines. That makes them much more cheaper then the hand-made oriental rugs. |
